High Speed Internet Case Study
Silver Star Mercedes-Benz, Montreal
As the largest Mercedes-Benz dealership in Eastern Canada, Silver Star Montreal offers customers first-rate quality in both products and services. The dealership’s facilities include a large indoor showroom for pre-owned cars, as well as new, state-of-the-art equipment in the garage, which makes quick and more efficient service possible.
“We have no more panic attacks because our systems aren’t failing and our productivity is up, while the speed is now 10 times faster...” Rob Girouard, General Sales Manager
Silver Star was having difficulty keeping up with the growth of its online business. Staff found its network connection unstable and the amount of online traffic was becoming too much for the existing carrier’s system to handle. To resolve this, the dealership went looking for a new, fast and reliable service provider in April 2006 and found TeraGo Networks.
“TeraGo’s connection was very strong and I liked the fact it was a wireless solution,” says Rob Girouard, General Sales Manager, Silver Star Montreal. With at least 60 computers connected to its LAN network at any given time, the dealership couldn’t afford any system down time. The combination of service and sales, means everything is executed online. Manual ways of doing business no longer exist,” adds Girouard. “If the system lags or frequently shuts down, our business is paralyzed – work orders can’t get processed and it’s a nightmare.”
From inventory control, sales quotes, service work orders, dispatching work, emails, internal systems, parts and pick ups, more than 50 per cent of Silver Star’s business goes through the network. So a stable connection was essential for the dealership.
Solution: TeraGo Networks E10
TeraGo installed its E10 Burstable Internet access service to meet Silver Star’s growing communications needs. As TeraGo Networks’ preferred alternative to legacy T1 services, E10 is designed to meet the demands of businesses that require additional speed and superior performance with an industry standard Ethernet interface.
After installing the E10 LRB 100GB service, Silver Star began reaping the benefits of TeraGo’s own quality, carrier-grade IP network, such as customizable GB transfer packages, symmetrical bandwidth, static IPS, 24/7 network monitoring, 3-month Satisfaction Guarantee and an industryleading Service Level Agreement. Since TeraGo doesn’t rely on other telco, cableco or hydro networks, Silver Star could take advantage of this distinct service alternative for its primary or redundant traffic requirements.
Turning to TeraGo Networks has significantly improved Silver Star’s online business, attests Girouard. “We have no more panic attacks because our systems aren’t failing and our productivity is up, while the speed is now 10 times faster,” he says.
